1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Channahon Park
4 District on winning the National Gold Medal Grand Award for
5 park and recreation agencies with a population of less than
6 20,000 residents; and
7 WHEREAS, The Channahon Park District received the medal
8 from the National Parks and Recreation Association and the
9 Sports Foundation, Inc.; the medal was presented to Park
10 District representatives who attended the National Congress
11 for Parks and Recreation in Salt Lake City, Utah; and
12 WHEREAS, Channahon first became one of the four finalists
13 by producing a video provided by the agency; and
14 WHEREAS, Park District Board President Ron Lehman noted
15 that the Channahon Park District was in competition with
16 larger agencies, and thus, beat overwhelming odds to win the
17 award; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 congratulate the Channahon Park District on winning awards
21 for doing what they do best, serving the community; may they
22 continue to excel in recreation management, and in serving
23 the City of Channahon; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the Channahon Park District.
