90_HR0289 LRB9007483KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rachel 4 Jean Woods; and 5 WHEREAS, Rachel Jean Woods was born on January 18, 1933, 6 in Hot Springs, Arkansas; her parents were Jerry and Irene 7 Evans; and 8 WHEREAS, Rachel Jean Woods was an active member of St. 9 Anselm Catholic Church and was recently inducted into the St. 10 Anselm Ladies Sodolity; she has lived in Chicago since 1951 11 and in Lawless Gardens for the past twenty-seven years; she 12 was a past member of the Chicago Business and Professional 13 Club; and 14 WHEREAS, Rachel Jean Woods had volunteered at Dawson 15 Nursing Home, Chevy Chase Nursing Home, as well as being 16 there for family and friends; her nickname was "Sunshine" 17 because of her warm, glowing manner, her friendly smile, and 18 her willingness to always be there for others; and 19 WHEREAS, Ms. Woods acquired her present job with Eastlake 20 Management Company because of her outgoing personality; while 21 walking through the "Gap" one day she met Mr. "H", who hired 22 her to work with his model homes in the "Gap"; she went on to 23 become a Property Manager for Eastlake; and 24 WHEREAS, Ms. Woods was very active for thirty years in 25 Local Independent Democrat Politics; she served as Townhouse 26 Representative for twenty years in the Lawless Gardens Tenant 27 Council; she was instrumental in seeing major changes in the 28 Lawless Gardens development between 1970 and 1990; as the 29 townhouse representative, she was very active, tireless, and 30 a dedicated community volunteer; and 31 WHEREAS, Rachel Jean Woods is survived by her sister, -2- LRB9007483KBkb 1 Melba Blackburn; her three children, Janice Woods, June 2 Woods, and Jerry Woods; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 5 mourn, along with her family and friends, the death of Rachel 6 Jean Woods; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the family of Rachel Jean Woods, along with our 9 sincere condolences.
