1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are
3 happy to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. & Mrs.
4 Lovance Ashley on their 50th wedding anniversary; and
5 WHEREAS, Lovance Ashley, son of William and Luella
6 Dedeaux Ashley, and Jeanne Margaret Geddes, daughter of
7 Julius and Effie Lyons Geddes, were married on January 17,
8 1948 at St. Anselm Church in Chicago; and
9 WHEREAS, They had four children: Karen Hamilton, Jeannine
10 Jones, Lovance Ashley Jr., and Maria Ashley; a son-in-law,
11 Ronald Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Alana Ashley; and four
12 grandchidren, Maria, Monique, Jasond, and Ashley; and
13 WHEREAS, They are members of St. Dorothy Church; Lovance
14 volunteers at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Jeanne
15 volunteers at Chicago State University; they both are active
16 members of the Block Club; and
17 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is proud to recognize that
18 its strength lies in the continuity and stability of people
19 like Lovance and Jean Ashley, whose 50 years of constant
20 devotion to their family and to each other has been a
21 continuing example to all the people of this State;
22 therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 extend our heartiest congratulations to Lovance and Jean
26 Ashley and wish them much happiness in the future; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to then with our fondest wishes.
