1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to honor Dr. Richard Allen Whitecotton
4 on forty years as an educator; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Whitecotton taught first at Proviso
6 East High School in Maywood, Illinois from 1958 to 1961; he
7 then moved on to Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn,
8 Illinois, where he has taught and held the position of Music
9 Department Chairman for the last thirty-six years; and
10 WHEREAS, Dr. Whitecotton received his Bachelors Degree in
11 Music Education from Wheaton College; he received his Masters
12 Degree in Music Education from Northwestern University; and
13 he received his Doctor of Education Degree from Northern
14 Illinois University; and
15 WHEREAS, Dr. Whitecotton has been guest clinician for
16 Illinois district festivals, has participated in Illinois
17 Music Educators' and Illinois American Choral Directors'
18 Association conferences, and has been an adjunct faculty
19 member of Vandercook College of Music in Chicago; therefore,
20 be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
23 honor Dr. Richard Whitecotton on forty years of service in
24 the field of education, particularly in the department of
25 music; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to Dr. Richard Whitecotton.
