1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of this Body that
3 Harry E. Peterson has been named the Danville Chapter of the
4 American Business Club's 1997 First Citizen; and
5 WHEREAS, The First Citizen Award is given to an
6 outstanding person for their business and personal
7 accomplishments and investment in Danville; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson came to Danville in 1947 as
9 co-founder, vice president, and general manager of the
10 Continental Filling Corporation of which he later became
11 president; in 1955 he opened Peterson Filling and Packaging,
12 which later became CCL Custom Manufacturing of which he
13 became president and chairman of the board, retiring in 1981;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson has been instrumental in drawing
16 other companies to Danville and remains active with the local
17 Service Core of Retired Executives; he took an active role in
18 raising money for the Danville Public Library and a past
19 expansion at St. Elizabeth Hospital; and
20 WHEREAS, He led the Danville Area United Way budget
21 committee for four years and served on the Danville Boy
22 Scouts executive board for six years, receiving the Silver
23 Beaver Award; he also led efforts to renovate the Robert
24 Thornton Building; and
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson has been involved in the CRIS
26 Senior Service expansion and building and also is president
27 of HEPCO, a financial consulting firm in Danville; and
28 WHEREAS, A banquet honoring Harry E. Peterson will be
29 held on Wednesday, February 18, 1998; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 congratulate Harry E. Peterson on being named the Danville
3 Chapter of the American Business Club's 1997 First Citizen
4 and extend our wishes for a happy future; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Harry E. Peterson.
