1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, On November 11, 1996, the members of the
3 Illinois House of Representatives were saddened to hear of
4 the death of Charles Campbell, a former Representative from
5 Danville, Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, Representative "Chuck" Campbell served in the
7 Illinois House from 1962 to 1980; Representative Campbell was
8 a graduate of the University of Illinois; he served as a
9 lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve during World War II, and
10 was awarded a Silver Star; and
11 WHEREAS, While serving as a Representative, Chuck
12 Campbell served on many different committees, and held many
13 different leadership positions; and
14 WHEREAS, Salt Kettle Rest Area, located seven miles west
15 of Danville, Illinois, on Interstate 74, is the perfect area
16 to seek location for a plaque honoring Representative
17 Campbell; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 request that the Salt Kettle Rest Area be dedicated to the
21 late Representative Chuck Campbell; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
23 be requested to erect, at a suitable location consistent with
24 State and federal rules and regulations, an appropriate
25 plaque or signs giving notice of the name; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
27 presented to the family of Representative Chuck Campbell and
28 the Secretary of Transportation.
