1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to acknowledge the hard work and
4 dedication of Marianne Edwards of Normal, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Marianne Edwards was hired as the City Clerk for
6 the Town of Normal on January 22, 1973; she has continued to
7 serve the citizens of Normal for the past twenty-five years;
8 during her quarter of a century tenure as the City Clerk,
9 Marianne has served under four mayors and eighteen City
10 Council members; and
11 WHEREAS, Marianne Edwards has held the position of City
12 Clerk longer then anyone in Normal's history; Marianne
13 Edwards has initiated and overseen numerous changes and
14 improvements in the operation of the City Clerk's Office; and
15 WHEREAS, Marianne Edwards has been involved with the
16 International Institute of Municipal Clerks and the Municipal
17 Clerks of Illinois, where she served as State President for
18 the latter in 1988; and
19 WHEREAS, Marianne Edwards has received numerous awards
20 and certificates during her esteemed career; in 1994 she was
21 the recipient of the Quill Award by the International
22 Institute of Municipal Clerks; in 1997 she was named as a
23 Third Sustaining Members of the Academy, in recognition of
24 her superior lifetime achievements by the International
25 Institute of Municipal Clerks; and
26 WHEREAS, Marianne Edwards will soon retire as City Clerk
27 for Normal; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
30 wish to acknowledge Marianne Edwards for her selfless
31 devotion to her position as City Clerk for the Town of

1 Normal; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Marianne Edwards of Normal, Illinois, along with
4 our warmest regards for her future.
