90_HR0389 LRB9011950KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to honor George Dickinson of Flora, 4 Illinois, on serving the Boy Scouts of America for over fifty 5 years; and 6 WHEREAS, George Dickinson was eight years old when he 7 first became associated with scouting; after participating as 8 a scout, he went on to serve in a leadership capacity; Mr. 9 Dickinson has taken several troops to the Philmont Boy Scout 10 ranch in Cimmaron, New Mexico to hike, canoe, and backpack; 11 on hiking treks, he has taken the youngsters over one hundred 12 miles; he has been canoeing through the boundary waters of 13 Minnesota, and has hiked the Appalachian trail through 14 Georgia; in the last year he has been the guide to ten boys 15 through the rough and rugged terrain of the North County of 16 Philmont; and 17 WHEREAS, George Dickinson has received many awards, 18 including: the Silver Beaver Award, District Award of Merit, 19 and Veteran Scouter Award; perhaps his greatest award is the 20 number of young men whose lives he has changed because of his 21 commitment to scouting; therefore, be it 22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 23 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 24 thank George Dickinson for his hard work and dedication to 25 the Boy Scouts of America; may he continue to be a positive 26 influence and role model to the young men of his area; and be 27 it further 28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 29 presented to George Dickinson of Flora, Illinois.
