90_HR0400 LRB9011969KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to declare June 5-7, 1998 as Operation 4 Graduation Weekend; and 5 WHEREAS, Operation Graduation is a six-state campaign 6 devoted to the safety of high school seniors on graduation 7 night; the campaign is designed to fund alcohol-free and drug 8 free graduation parties that are safe, memorable, and fun; 9 and 10 WHEREAS, In an effort to encourage high schools to hold 11 alcohol-free, drug-free graduation parties, local cable 12 systems in the Midwest region are donating money to 13 corresponding area high schools; this project also provides 14 high schools with information kits containing an Operation 15 Graduation How-to Guide, pamphlets and brochures on the 16 dangers of drunk driving, statistical information, and other 17 resources for promoting Operation Graduation; and 18 WHEREAS, Together, local cable systems and our 19 communities are fighting to stop needless deaths on our roads 20 and highways that result from reckless behavior on graduation 21 night; therefore, be it 22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 23 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 24 do hereby proclaim the weekend of June 5-7, 1998 as 25 "Operation Graduation Weekend".
