90_HR0405 LRB9011958CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to 3 recognize individuals who have made significant contributions 4 to people of the United States; and 5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Fred Quellmalz 6 will be honored by the Illinois State Chapter of Sister 7 Cities International on Saturday, April 18, 1998; and 8 WHEREAS, In September, 1956, Dwight D. Eisenhower 9 proposed a people-to-people citizen diplomacy program which 10 grew to become Sister Cities International; and 11 WHEREAS, Now, forty successful years after that White 12 House meeting, the Illinois Chapter of Sister Cities 13 International will award Fred Quellmalz a Life Achievement 14 award for his tireless service to the success of citizen 15 diplomacy; and 16 WHEREAS, The award will be presented on Saturday, April 17 18, 1998, at 11:30 a.m.; therefore, be it 18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 20 congratulate Fred Quellmalz on the honor being paid him by 21 the Illinois State Chapter of Sister Cities International and 22 extend to him our best wishes for the future; and be it 23 further 24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 25 presented to Fred Quellmalz.
