1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Evanston Township
4 High School chess team on taking first place at the
5 twenty-fifth annual State chess tournament, held at Illinois
6 State University in Normal, Illinois; and
7 WHEREAS, Evanston senior Florin Felecan won all seven of
8 his matches; a Romanian immigrant, Florin had previously won
9 a European junior title; and
10 WHEREAS, Evanston easily went through the tournament's
11 first six rounds, and then lost their last round, which put
12 them into a five-way tie for first; after the tie-breaking
13 procedure, Evanston came out on top, winning the tournament;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Evanston Township High School can be proud of
16 their team, which includes: Florin Felecan, Matt Pullin,
17 Jason Doty, David Summerhays, Ben Schwartz, Dan Stein, WooJae
18 Sung, Matt Thomas, and Ben Allen; the team's alternates are
19 Vannard Davis and Shawn White; the Coach for the team is Ken
20 Lewandowski and the Assistant Coach is David Sacks;
21 therefore, be it
22 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
24 congratulate the Evanston Township High School chess team on
25 a job well done; they can proud of the hard work and drive
26 that was put forth, enabling them to receive first place at
27 the annual State chess tournament; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the Evanston Township High School chess team.
