90_HR0418 LRB9012014CBcbA 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House were saddened to learn 3 of the death of CHARLES E. MARBLE of Chicago on April 12, 4 1998; and 5 WHEREAS, He was born on May 30, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia, 6 the son of the late Eugene and Annie Marble; and 7 WHEREAS, After graduating from Howard High School and 8 attending one year at Morehouse College, CHARLES MARBLE moved 9 to Chicago; he met and married the late Mary Marble on 10 November 17, 1956; and 11 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was employed 12 by the Chicago Transit Authority for 30 years, retiring in 13 1988; he also worked for the Illinois Department of 14 Transportation; and 15 WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church; 16 he was a member of the School Board, Parish Council, Ushers 17 Board, Bingo Crew, and a Reader, Eucharistic Minister, and 18 Commentator; and 19 WHEREAS, He was also very active in political and 20 community affairs; he served as Precinct Captain, Law Clerk, 21 President of the Foster Park Community Council, President of 22 the 8200 South Ada Block Club, Treasurer of the Conference of 23 Minority Transportation Officials, and Campaign Manager for 24 numerous elected officials; he also aspired to elected 25 office; and 26 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 27 and friends, especially his children, Danny, Sharron Slay, 28 and Spring Capers; his sons-in-law, Tommy Slay and James 29 Capers; and his grandchildren, Danny Jr., Cathy, Jonathan, 30 Candice, Justin, Anthony, Simone, and Janae; therefore, be it -2- LRB9012014CBcbA 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 3 note with sorrow and regret the death of CHARLES E. MARBLE 4 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; 5 and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of CHARLES E. MARBLE.
