90_HR0431 LRB9012006KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to congratulate E. Ruth Martin on being 4 named the 1998 Citizen of the Year in Catlin, Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, E. Ruth Martin is the first woman to receive the 6 honor; and 7 WHEREAS, E. Ruth Martin graduated from Catlin High School 8 in 1943 and immediately started working for the First 9 National Bank of Catlin; she worked for the bank for 10 forty-three years, serving first as a bookkeeper and and then 11 moving on to teller; upon her retirement she was a vice 12 president; and 13 WHEREAS, She served twenty-five years as treasurer of the 14 Catlin schools and twelve years as treasurer of the Diamond 15 Grade School District; she is currently serving her eighth 16 four-year term on the Catlin Township Board; and 17 WHEREAS, E. Ruth Martin has an impressive list of 18 accomplishments, including: a member of the Vermillion County 19 Board for six years, serving as the first female chair of the 20 finance committee; a six-year member of the East Central 21 Illinois Area Agency on Aging board of directors; Treasurer 22 of the Community Resources and Information for Seniors board 23 of directors; a current member of the Vermillion County Board 24 of Health; a former member of the Regional Public Library 25 Service Planning Panel for Vermillion County; Treasurer of 26 the Catlin Historical Society and Museum; a member of the 27 Vermillion Manor Nursing Home Auxiliary, serving as former 28 president and treasurer; Vice chairman of the administrative 29 council of the Catlin United Methodist Church, also serving 30 as a member of the board of trustees and the music and 31 worship committee; a former member of the Piankeshaw Council 32 of the Boy Scouts of America; and a former member of the -2- LRB9012006KBkb 1 Central Illinois Light Company advisory council; and 2 WHEREAS, E. Ruth Martin is an outstanding part of Catlin; 3 it is evident through her hard work and dedication to her 4 community; therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 6 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 7 congratulate E. Ruth Martin on being named Catlin's first 8 woman "Citizen of the Year"; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to E. Ruth Martin, with our warmest regards.
