1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to
3 recognize significant milestones in the lives of the people
4 of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, Marvin and Sharon Perzee of rural Ashkum have
6 been selected as the Daily Journal Farm Family of the Year
7 1998 based on their many community and professional services;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, They are excellent examples of community service
10 and of stewardship of the earth they occupy and farm; and
11 WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee has been president of the Iroquois
12 County Fair Board for more than 26 years and has served on
13 the board 32 years; he is director at large of the Illinois
14 Association of Agricultural Fairs and was its program
15 committee chairman this year; and
16 WHEREAS, He served 10 years on the Iroquois County
17 Extension Youth Council, and he's been a member of the
18 Illinois Board of State Fair Advisers and of the Illinois
19 Board of Agricultural Advisers of the Illinois Department of
20 Agricultural; and
21 WHEREAS, He has received the Alumni Award from the
22 Iroquois County Extension Youth Council; he received the
23 Illinois Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1973; in
24 1984, he was named Illinois County Fair Man of the Year; in
25 1990, he and Sharon were honored for their work in helping
26 Cook County people start a county fair; and in 1996, he was
27 named one of five winners of the American Heritage Award; and
28 WHEREAS, Sharon Perzee currently serves as Publicity
29 Chairman of the Iroquois County Fair Board, and she is now a
30 technical manager with transportation's district office at
31 St. Joseph; and

1 WHEREAS, She has also worked for the Department of
2 Commerce and Community Affairs, the Department of Mental
3 Health, and the Department of Transportation; she is a past
4 secretary-treasurer of the Illinois Association of
5 Agricultural Fairs and past president and secretary-treasurer
6 of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, Marvin and Sharon Perzee have made farm living a
9 rich and varied experience and have earned the appreciation
10 of their community; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 congratulate Marvin and Sharon Perzee on being named the
14 Daily Journal Farm Family of the Year and we wish to extend
15 our sincere hope for success in all their future endeavors;
16 and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Marvin and Sharon Perzee.
