1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize
3 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
4 well-being of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, Herman M. Finch is one such individual; Mr.
6 Finch has been involved in the Herman M. Finch University of
7 Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School for fifty years;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Finch has been a member of the Board of
10 Trustees and Board of Governors of the University since 1948
11 and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer since
12 1966; and
13 WHEREAS, The University was renamed the Herman M. Finch
14 University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in
15 November of 1993 in recognition of his leadership and strong
16 support for a nourishing academic environment; and
17 WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the institution became the
18 first university in the United States devoted entirely to the
19 health sciences; and
20 WHEREAS, Born July 7, 1914 in Russia, Mr. Finch
21 immigrated to the United States at the age of six and was
22 raised in Omaha, Nebraska; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 congratulate Herman M. Finch on fifty years of service to the
26 Herman M. Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago
27 Medical School and we wish him the best for the future; and
28 be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution will be
30 presented to Herman M. Finch.
