1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate former State Senator
4 James H. Rupp, Jr. on his eightieth birthday; and
5 WHEREAS, James H. Rupp, Jr. is a former three-term mayor
6 of Decatur, Illinois and a former State Senator from the 51st
7 District; an open house will be held to honor Mr. Rupp on May
8 17, 1998 at the Mt. Zion Lions Club Center in Mt. Zion,
9 Illinois; and
10 WHEREAS, During the 80th General Assembly, Mr. Rupp
11 served on the Insurance, Appropriations I, Local Government,
12 and Transportation Committees; and
13 WHEREAS, At the time Mr. Rupp served in the Illinois
14 Senate, the 51st District included Christian, Macon, Shelby,
15 and parts of Cumberland and Sangamon counties; as a State
16 Senator, Mr. Rupp worked to improve roads, lower State income
17 taxes and sales taxes, and to find ways to continue to use
18 Illinois coal in energy programs; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21 congratulate James H. Rupp, Jr. on the occasion of his
22 eightieth birthday; may this celebration be a joyous time for
23 him, his family, and his friends; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to James H. Rupp, Jr.
