1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Leon
4 Werch of Woodridge, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Leon Werch was born in Chicago, Illinois; in
6 1958 he moved to a rural corner of DuPage County where he
7 helped found the Village of Woodridge; with the assistance of
8 Mr. Werch, the Village of Woodridge was incorporated in 1959;
9 at the time of incorporation about 400 people lived in the
10 community; they expressed their gratitude by electing Mr.
11 Werch mayor of Woodridge twice; he also served Woodridge as a
12 village trustee; and
13 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Werch served on School District
14 99's board, and on various elementary school board
15 committees; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Werch was a graduate of the University of
17 Chicago; he was an educator who set up training programs for
18 the United States Army; Mr. Werch is credited with organizing
19 modern training programs for the Internal Revenue Service;
20 Mr. Werch also taught at Chicago City Colleges; and
21 WHEREAS, Leon Werch is survived by his daughters, Shifra
22 and Masha; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of Leon
26 Werch of Woodridge, Illinois; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to the family of Leon Werch.
