1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Association of Illinois Soil and Water
3 Conservation Districts was established in 1948 and is
4 celebrating its golden anniversary in 1998; and
5 WHEREAS, The Association serves to represent the
6 interests of Illinois' 98 soil and water conservation
7 districts at both the State and national levels; and
8 WHEREAS, For fifty years the Association of Illinois Soil
9 and Water Conservation Districts has been a leader, together
10 with local soil and water conservation districts, in the
11 development of programs designed to preserve and protect
12 Illinois' highly productive and fertile soils, promote
13 natural resource education, and enhance water quality; and
14 WHEREAS, The Association, together with local soil and
15 water conservation districts in Illinois, continues to
16 provide an increasing number of opportunities for both rural
17 and urban landowners in Illinois to protect our State's
18 natural resources through programs such as Conservation 2000,
19 the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, T by 2000, the
20 Illinois State Envirothon competition, watershed planning
21 assistance, and other educational, outreach, and technical
22 assistance; and
23 WHEREAS, The Association has benefitted greatly over the
24 past fifty years through the commitment of the many men and
25 women who have given of their time and effort in various
26 capacities in service to the Association; and
27 WHEREAS, The Association has demonstrated a true spirit
28 of stewardship and cooperation in working with other partners
29 in these endeavors including the Illinois Department of
30 Agriculture, the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service,
31 the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the Illinois

1 Department of Natural Resources, and other federal, State,
2 and local natural resource protection agencies; therefore, be
3 it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 extend our most sincere congratulations to the Association of
7 Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts as they
8 celebrate the golden anniversary of their association; and be
9 it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the Association to commemorate this anniversary.
