1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize citizens of the
4 State that have earned awards and achievements; and
5 WHEREAS, Rausell Harvey is one such young man; Mr. Harvey
6 is from Chicago, Illinois; he attends school at Dunbar
7 Vocational High School, majoring in radio/tv broadcasting; he
8 has been a member of the junior varsity and varsity football
9 and track teams for four years, serving as team captain for
10 two years; and
11 WHEREAS, Rausell Harvey won first place in Representative
12 Morrow's Basketball Tournament in 1998; in 1998 he was named
13 the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Defender Newspaper's
14 Football Player of the Year; he was named an Allstate
15 Football Player of the Year in 1997 and 1998 with 600 plus
16 yards and 39 touchdowns; he participated in the Prep Bowl
17 Championship in 1997 and the city-wide track and field
18 championship in 1998; he set the State high school football
19 career rushing yardage and scoring record in 1997 with 7,300
20 rushing yards and 105 touchdowns; he was given the "Coca-Cola
21 Player of the Week" Award in 1997; he is a member of the
22 school newspaper and yearbook staff; and he will be attending
23 the University of Illinois with a football scholarship; and
24 WHEREAS, Rausell Harvey is a member of New Friendship
25 Baptist Church; he serves as a peer tutor and mentor at his
26 high school and to many of the youths in the community; his
27 favorite book is the Bible; Rausell Harvey enjoys competition
28 and sharing his knowledge of sports; he has been employed by
29 the Chicago Park District as a timekeeper; and
30 WHEREAS, Rausell Harvey is the son of Relton and Carolyn
31 Harvey; he has three brothers and two sisters; therefore, be
32 it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 take a moment to recognize this exceptional young man; he is
4 an example of hard work and determination and a model for
5 other young people in Illinois; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Rausell Harvey.
