1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the people of
4 Congregation Beth Sholom in Park Forest and Temple B'nai
5 Yehuda in Homewood on the occasion of the joining together of
6 the two congregations into one: B'nai Yehuda-Beth Sholom in
7 Homewood; and
8 WHEREAS, The Unity Celebration will be held on June 7,
9 1998; and
10 WHEREAS, Rabbi Leo Wolkow, spiritual leader of B'nai
11 Yehuda, will retire on June 30, 1998 after serving for 35
12 years; together with Rabbi Ellen Dreyfus, spiritual leader of
13 Beth Sholom and the new leader of the united congregations,
14 will lead the celebration; and
15 WHEREAS, The two congregations will become one on this
16 special day; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 congratulate the people of Congregation Beth Sholom and
20 Temple B'nai Yehuda on the unification of their
21 congregations; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to B'nai Yehuda-Beth Sholom in Homewood, Illinois.
