1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois Main Street Spring Program
3 Conference was held in Springfield; this program provides
4 assistance to communities with population less than 50,000;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, The program focuses on long-term economic plans
7 for downtown districts and operates in conjunction with the
8 Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Illinois
9 Department of Commerce and Community Affairs; and
10 WHEREAS, This year, as one of twenty communities honored,
11 Main Street Blue Island won honors in the design category of
12 building under $5,000 for the front entrance work on Evita's
13 Bridal as well as for the facade of Broukal's Tavern for
14 rehabilitation exceeding $5,000; and
15 WHEREAS, Main Street Blue Island shows determination to
16 preserve and enhance its downtown area; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 congratulate Main Street Blue Island on being honored by the
20 Illinois Main Street Spring Program Conference and extend to
21 them our best wishes for the future; and be it further
22 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to Main Street Blue Island.
