1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Elnora D. Daniel on
4 being named the new President of Chicago State University;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Elnora Daniel is married to Herman Daniel; she
7 is the mother of Michael Daniel; and
8 WHEREAS, In 1964, Elnora Daniel received her Bachelor of
9 Science degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical
10 University in Greensboro, North Carolina; in 1968, she
11 received her Masters of Education degree from Columbia
12 University in New York, specializing in curriculum and
13 instruction; in 1972 she did further study at the College of
14 William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia; and in 1975, she
15 received her Doctor of Education degree from Columbia
16 University; and
17 WHEREAS, Elnora Daniel served as the Executive Vice
18 President and Provost of Hampton University from 1995 to the
19 present; she previously served the University as Vice
20 President for Health (1994-1995), Vice President for Academic
21 Affairs (1991-1993), Administrator for the Hampton University
22 Interdisciplinary Nursing Center for Health and Wellness
23 (1985-1991), and as a Professor and Dean (1980-1991); she
24 also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Columbia
25 University from 1975 to 1976; and
26 WHEREAS, Elnora Daniel has been a Colonel in the United
27 States Army Reserve Nurse Corps since 1991; and
28 WHEREAS, Elnora Daniel is the recipient of many national,
29 state, and local honors; she has held many positions in her
30 career, and we look forward to her time as President of
31 Chicago State University; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate Elnora Daniel on her new position as President
4 of Chicago State University; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Elnora Daniel, along with our sincere regards.
