1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is pleased
3 to honor citizens of the State that have earned recognition;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, Chuck Schuttrow, city government and education
6 writer for the Times-Republic newspaper in Watseka, Illinois,
7 received an award from the American Society of Agricultural
8 Journalists for his article on the 1892 Froelich tractor; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Schuttrow has been in the newspaper business
10 for 38 years; he joined the Times-Republic staff in 1991 and
11 was introduced to agriculture writing; it was the first time
12 in his career that he had written an article on agriculture;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, In 1959 Mr. Schuttrow began his newspaper
15 career; at the South Bend Tribune he started as a copy
16 editor; he later joined the Associated Press as a writer and
17 copy editor and then the Indianapolis News as a copy editor;
18 Mr. Schuttrow worked in public relations before his
19 employment with the Times-Republic; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Schuttrow has previously received the "Print
21 Media Excellence" award from both the Illinois Soybean
22 Association and the Illinois Commodity Conference, honors
23 that can only be received once; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
26 congratulate Chuck Schuttrow on receiving the American
27 Society of Agricultural Journalists award for best
28 agricultural feature story in 1998; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Chuck Schuttrow of the Watseka Times-Republic.
