1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Champaign Central High School has named its new
3 addition the Seely Johnston Hall of Honors; and
4 WHEREAS, Seely Johnston, who reached his 95th birthday in
5 May of 1998, has owned and operated Johnston's Sports Shop in
6 Champaign since 1926; a graduate of Champaign High, Mr.
7 Johnston has been a longtime supporter of sports in the
8 community, donating equipment and awards for youth sports
9 leagues; and
10 WHEREAS, The main entrance and corridor of Champaign
11 Central will be called Seely Hall; athletic banquets, music
12 and play banquets, as well as other assembly-type events will
13 be held in the new hall; one side will have all-glass trophy
14 cases, while the other wall will have a place for academic
15 honors; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 congratulate Seely Johnston on receiving this great honor; by
19 naming Seely Hall, Champaign Central will have a legacy to
20 remember; Seely Johnston will be remembered for years to
21 come, and his devotion to youth sports will be honored by the
22 naming of this hall; and be it further
23 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
24 presented to Mr. Seely Johnston.
