90_HR0651 LRB9013354KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to congratulate James W. Polk on his 4 retirement from the Chicago Police Department; and 5 WHEREAS, James W. Polk retired as District Commander of 6 the Third Police District in July of 1998; and 7 WHEREAS, His education includes a Bachelor's Degree in 8 Public Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago 9 and studies at North Carolina Central University School of 10 Law and Chicago-Kent College of Law; and 11 WHEREAS, James W. Polk served in the United States Army 12 and was Honorably Discharged, attaining the rank of Corporal; 13 and 14 WHEREAS, In February of 1966 James Polk began his 15 lifelong career with the Chicago Police Department; he began 16 as a Patrol and Tactical Unit Officer, and by 1971 had moved 17 to the position of Detective; and 18 WHEREAS, Over the years, James Polk has served in a 19 variety of positions, from Investigator to Watch Commander; 20 in June of 1994 he became the District Commander of the Third 21 Police District in the City of Chicago; and 22 WHEREAS, After 32 years of hard work serving the 23 community, James W. Polk has reached a new time in his life; 24 for all his efforts and dedication to his field, we wish him 25 the best; therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 27 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 28 congratulate James W. Polk on his retirement from the Chicago 29 Police Department; and be it further 30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be -2- LRB9013354KBkb 1 presented to James W.
