 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are saddened to learn of the death of former
 4    State Senator James H. Rupp Jr., of Decatur, Illinois; and
 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Rupp was born in Kearny, New Jersey  on  May
 6    17,  1918;  he  graduated from Kearny High School in 1936; He
 7    attended Staunton Military Academy in  Virginia  and  studied
 8    economics  and  business  at  Monmouth  College  in Monmouth,
 9    Illinois; he graduated from Monmouth in 1941 and  was  listed
10    in  Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities; he was a
11    veteran of World War II, serving as a sub-chaser captain;  he
12    served in the Korean War as an inspector and instructor; and
13        WHEREAS, James H. Rupp Jr. married Florence C. Reincke in
14    1944; she preceded him in death; and
15        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Rupp was a member of Rotary International,
16    VFW Post 99, the Decatur Shriners Club, and  American  Legion
17    Post  105;  he  was  a  charter and active member of Woodland
18    Chapel Presbyterian Church; he was a partner  and  later  the
19    sole owner of the Creighton-Jackson Insurance Agency; and
20        WHEREAS, Mr. Rupp served the city of Decatur as Mayor for
21    10 years, from 1966 to 1976; he went on to serve in the State
22    Senate  for  the 51st Legislative District for 10 more years;
23    and
24        WHEREAS, Mr. Rupp is survived by his sons, James F.  Rupp
25    and  his  wife  Beth and Jeffery Dean Rupp and his wife Joan;
26    his grandchildren, Victoria G. Rupp, Jesse Dean Rupp, Branden
27    Zylstra, and Natalie Zylstra; therefore, be it
28        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
29    NINETIETH  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
30    mourn,  along  with   his   family,   friends,   and   former
31    constituents,  the  death of James H. Rupp Jr.; may they find

 1    peace and solace in this time of need; and be it further
 2        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 3    presented to the family of James H. Rupp Jr.
