 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to  recognize
 3    individuals  who  have  made outstanding contributions to the
 4    well-being of the citizens of this State; and
 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Sheriff  Steve
 6    Brienen has announced his retirement; and
 7        WHEREAS,  A resident of McLean County for 38 years, Steve
 8    Brienen graduated from Bloomington High School  in  1962;  he
 9    earned an associate's degree in Police Science and Technology
10    from  Illinois  Central  College  and  a bachelor's degree in
11    Criminal Justice from Illinois State University; and
12        WHEREAS, He was  a  Bloomington  Police  Officer  for  10
13    years; he graduated from the Police Training Institute at the
14    University  of  Illinois,  the  Dale  Carnegie Institute, the
15    Juvenile Officer's Institute at the University of  Minnesota,
16    the   National  Sheriff's  Institute  at  the  University  of
17    California at Los Angeles, and the National  FBI  Academy  at
18    Quantico, Virginia; and
19        WHEREAS,  He  was  a member of the Executive Board of the
20    Illinois  Sheriff's  Association,  member  of  the   Attorney
21    General's  Law  Enforcement Advisory Council, and a part-time
22    instructor at Lincoln College in Normal; and
23        WHEREAS, He has been named Law Enforcement Officer of the
24    Year, the Excellence in Teaching Award  at  Lincoln  College,
25    and  the  best law enforcement administrator in McLean County
26    by Business to Business Magazine; and
27        WHEREAS, He has served his community through the  Danvers
28    Lions  Club,  Cubmaster  of Pack 27 in Danvers, Masonic Lodge
29    #43, and the Elks Lodge in Bloomington; and
30        WHEREAS, He was supported in his public and private  life

 1    by  his  wife,  Lucerne,  and  his children, Shaun, Erin, and
 2    Mark; therefore, be it
 3        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 4    NINETIETH  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
 5    congratulate Sheriff Steve  Brienen  on  his  retirement  and
 6    extend  our  best  wishes  to  him  for the future; and be it
 7    further
 8        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 9    presented to him as an expression of our esteem.
