90_HR0669 LRB9013389CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The House takes pleasure in recognizing the 3 outstanding heroism of Illinois citizens; and 4 WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Robert Hoff of the Chicago Fire 5 Department was presented with the Carter E. Harrison Medal 6 for saving the lives of twin boys when he entered their 7 burning house and carried them to safety; and 8 WHEREAS, On November 23, 1997, on arriving on the scene, 9 Chief Hoff, without regard for his personal safety, entered 10 the house, got into the bedroom, and carried the 2 boys to 11 safety; and 12 WHEREAS, In 1992, Chief Hoff was awarded the Harrison 13 Medal for saving a man and a woman from a house explosion; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, He was inspired to become a firefighter by his 16 father, Thomas Hoff, a city firefighter who died when a 17 building collapsed in 1962; and 18 WHEREAS, Chief Robert Hoff is a hero to the people of 19 Chicago for his compassionate and selfless action in saving 20 these children; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 22 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 23 commend the heroism of Chief Robert Hoff; that we thank him 24 for his courageous action; and that we extend our best wishes 25 to him for the future; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 27 presented to Chief Robert Hoff.
