1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this body are honored to
3 recognize significant milestones in the lives of the people
4 of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Leon Kozicki
6 is being honored by the International Polka Association; and
7 WHEREAS, The International Polka Association was
8 chartered by the State of Illinois in August, 1968; and
9 WHEREAS, The International Polka Association was
10 organized as an educational and charitable organization for
11 the preservation, promulgation, and advancement of polka
12 music; and
13 WHEREAS, The International Polka Association encourages
14 the pursuit of the study of polka music, dancing and
15 traditional folklore; and
16 WHEREAS, The International Polka Association established
17 the Polka Music Hall of Fame and the presentation of annual
18 Polka Music Awards; and
19 WHEREAS, The International Polka Association was founded
20 by Leon Kozicki, who served as their first elected president,
21 Johnny Hyzny, Joe and Jean Salomon, Edward Blazonczyk, and
22 Don Jodlowski; and
23 WHEREAS, The International Polka Association is
24 celebrating their 30th Anniversary; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 extend our congratulations to Leon Kozicki and the founders
28 of the International Polka Association and in celebration of
29 their 30th anniversary we commend them for their dedication
30 to the polka community; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Leon Kozicki.
