1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Blondean Y. Davis,
4 Chief of Schools and Regions, the Chicago Public Schools, on
5 receiving the 1998 Frederick D. Patterson award; and
6 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Dr. Davis, $3,097,000
7 has been raised for the United Negro College Fund through the
8 Chicago Public Schools; Dr. Davis has been chairperson of the
9 campaign to raise funds since 1994; and
10 WHEREAS, The award is named for Dr. Frederick D.
11 Patterson, the founder of the United Negro College Fund; and
12 WHEREAS, Dr. Davis has worked tirelessly with volunteers
13 to make the Chicago Public School UNCF campaign the largest
14 workplace campaign for the United Negro College Fund in
15 America; therefore, be it
16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 congratulate Dr. Blondean Davis on receiving the 1998
19 Frederick D. Patterson Award; and be it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to Dr. Blondean Davis.
