90_HR0690 LRB9013701KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to congratulate Reverend Martin E. 4 O'Donovan of St. Christina Roman Catholic Church in Mt. 5 Greenwood, Illinois, on receiving the 1998 Cure D'Ars Award; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, The Cure D'Ars Award has it's origins in the 8 life and ministry of St. John Vianney, the patron saint of 9 priests; Vianney was the pastor of a church in Cure D'Ars, 10 France; he was known for his devotional spirit and dedication 11 to the priesthood; and 12 WHEREAS, Rev. Martin O'Donovan was given the award for 13 his inspiring and exemplary service to the people entrusted 14 to his pastoral care in imitation of St. John Vianney; and 15 WHEREAS, Rev. O'Donovan has a compassionate and generous 16 heart; he uses sound pastoral judgment and leadership when 17 preaching the Gospel; and 18 WHEREAS, Rev. O'Donovan has served in the Archdiocese of 19 Chicago for 20 years; he previously served as pastor of Our 20 Lady of Good Counsel for 9 years; he has served St. Christina 21 for the past 5 years; Rev. O'Donovan is one of the youngest 22 priests to be assigned to a pastorate; and 23 WHEREAS, Rev. O'Donovan has been elected to the Executive 24 Committee of the Presbyteral Council and to the Priests' 25 Personnel Board; he has been appointed to the Archdiocesan 26 Professional Fitness Review Board by the Cardinal; and 27 WHEREAS, Rev. O'Donovan serves on the Chicago Board of 28 Ethics, and the Board of the Mt. Greenwood Local Development 29 Corporation; and 30 WHEREAS, Rev. O'Donovan has shown himself to be an -2- LRB9013701KBkb 1 example of a hard working priest, dedicated to his church and 2 the people of his parish; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 5 congratulate Reverend Martin O'Donovan on receiving the 1998 6 Cure D'Ars Award; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to Reverend Martin O'Donovan, along with our 9 sincere regards.
