1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Glenn E. Hargrave, Jr.,
4 on being named a "Master Board Member" by the Illinois
5 Association of School Boards; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Hargrave was one of 200 school board members
7 who received the award; he was chosen out of nearly 6,000
8 possible members for the award; and
9 WHEREAS, Glenn Hargrave served in the armed forces during
10 World War II; he received a Bachelor of Science degree from
11 Monmouth College; he taught junior high school English and
12 mathematics in Des Plaines, Illinois; and
13 WHEREAS, Glenn Hargrave was President and owner of
14 G.H.S., a wood products brokerage company, from 1972 to his
15 retirement in 1988; he was a founding member of Palatine
16 Presbyterian Church, where he has served on the Board of
17 Deacons as president; and
18 WHEREAS, Glenn Hargrave has served with the Board of
19 Education in many capacities since 1972; he was elected to
20 the Board in 1972, 1991, and 1995; he is a member of the
21 Illinois Association of School Boards and the National
22 Association of School Boards; Mr. Hargrave was elected
23 director-at-large for the Governing Board of North Cook
24 Division of the Illinois Association of School Boards, where
25 he currently serves as program chair for the Executive
26 Committee; and
27 WHEREAS, In 1992, Glenn Hargrave was named School Board
28 Member of the Year in the Illinois State Board of Education's
29 "Those Who Excel" awards program; and
30 WHEREAS, He has served on the Executive Board of the
31 William Fremd High School Booster Club for 7 years, serving

1 as treasurer and president in the past; and
2 WHEREAS, Glenn Hargrave is to be commended for his hard
3 work and dedication to education; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate Glenn E. Hargrave, Jr., on being named "Master
7 Board Member" by the Illinois Association of School Boards;
8 and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to Glenn E. Hargrave, Jr., along with our sincere
11 regards.
