1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are happy to recognize
3 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
4 well-being of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jacqueline B.
6 Gorell has announced her retirement as Mayor of the Village
7 of Skokie, a position she has held since 1989; and
8 WHEREAS, She has served the community in various
9 positions; she was a member of the Skokie Human Relations
10 Commission and the Skokie Plan Commission, Trustee of the
11 Village of Skokie, and Acting Mayor of the Village of Skokie;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, She was a member of the Mayor's Task Force on
14 Drug Abuse from 1970 until 1972, served on the Skokie
15 Bicentennial Commission from 1975 until 1976, and was
16 Chairman of the Skokie Centennial Committee in 1986-1987; and
17 WHEREAS, She is a past member of the Rush North Shore
18 Medical Center Board of Directors, the North Central Home
19 Owners Association, the Devonshire-Old Orchard Junior High
20 PTAs, and the Advisory Board of WTMX; and
21 WHEREAS, She is an honorary member of the Jewish War
22 Veterans Auxiliary, the Skokie Kiwanis Club, the Skokie
23 Rotary, and the United Way; and
24 WHEREAS, She is also a member of Janus Korczak Bnai
25 Brith, the Skokie Caucus Party, the Skokie Historical
26 Society, and the Northwest Municipal Conference
27 Transportation Unit; and
28 WHEREAS, Mayor Gorell has earned the respect and
29 affection of all who have come to know her; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 congratulate Mayor Jacqueline B. Gorell as she retires and
3 applaud the work she has done; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That we wish her health and happiness in the
5 future; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to her as an expression of our esteem.
