Provides that with respect to the restrictions on termination of gas or electric service related to space heating for residences, the term "service" includes supply of gas or electricity and any component of a delivery method or system necessary or desirable to provide or operate space heating at a residence. The Public Utilities Act is amended by 6 changing Section 8-205 as follows: 7 (220 ILCS 5/8-205) (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 8-205) 8 Sec. 8-205. Termination of gas or electric service or 9 supply. 10 (a) Termination of gas and electric utility service to 11 all residential users, including all tenants of mastermetered 12 apartment buildings, for nonpayment of bills, where gas or 13 electricity is used as the only source of space heating or to 14 control or operate the only space heating equipment at the 15 residence is prohibited:,16 (1)1.on any day when the National Weather Service 17 forecast for the following 24 hours covering the area of 18 the utility in which the residence is located includes a 19 forecast that the temperature will be 32 degrees 20 Fahrenheit or below; or 21 (2)2.on any day preceding a holiday or a weekend 22 when such a forecast indicated that the temperature will 23 be 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below during the holiday or 24 weekend. 25 (b) As used in this Section, "service" includes, but is 26 not limited to, supply of gas or electricity. "Service" also 27 means any facet or component of any delivery method or system 28 necessary or desirable to provide or operate space heating at 29 a residence. 30 (Source: P.A. 84-617.) -2- LRB9001478JSgc 1 Section 99.
