Provides that during 1997 and 1998, the board of a forest preserve district in a county with between 800,000 and 3,000,000 inhabitants may, by a two-thirds vote, sell property if it is 15 acres or less and includes a structure no longer suitable for the purpose it was purchased. Provides for a certified appraisal before the sale and for the sale proceeds to be used for the district's land acquisition or new construction. Effective immediately. LRB9001726PTpk LRB9001726PTpk 1 AN ACT to amend the Downstate Forest Preserve District 2 Act by adding Section 6f. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Downstate Forest Preserve District Act is 6 amended by adding Section 6f as follows: 7 (70 ILCS 805/6f new) 8 Sec. 6f. Sale of land and structure. During the 9 calendar years of 1997 and 1998, the board of any forest 10 preserve district located in a county with a population of 11 more than 800,000 and less than 3,000,000 shall have the 12 authority to sell property that is 15 acres or less in size 13 and includes a structure no longer suitable for the purpose 14 for which it was purchased. The board must approve the sale 15 by a two-thirds vote of the members of the board then holding 16 office. A sale may not be approved by the board unless the 17 sale of the land and structure is supported by an appraisal 18 prepared by an MAI appraiser or a State-certified real estate 19 appraiser within one year before the date the sale is to take 20 effect. The net proceeds of the sale of any property and 21 structure under this Section shall be set aside for the 22 district's future land acquisitions or for the construction 23 of new structures and may not be utilized for any other 24 purpose. 25 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 26 becoming law.
