 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 369
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 369  by  replacing
 3    the title with the following:
 4        "AN ACT concerning peace officers."; and
 5    by  inserting  immediately  below  the  enacting  clause  the
 6    following:
 7        "Section  1.  The  Attorney  General  Act  is  amended by
 8    changing Section 4c as follows:
 9        (15 ILCS 205/4c) (from Ch. 14, par. 4c)
10        Sec. 4c. Subject to the qualifications set  forth  below,
11    investigators employed by the Attorney General shall be peace
12    officers and shall have all the powers possessed by policemen
13    in  cities and by sheriffs; provided, that Attorney General's
14    investigators shall exercise  such  powers  anywhere  in  the
15    State   only  after  contact  and  in  cooperation  with  the
16    appropriate local law enforcement agencies.
17        No investigator employed by the  Attorney  General  shall
18    have peace officer status or exercise police powers unless he
19    or  she  successfully  completes  the  basic  police training
20    course mandated and approved by the Illinois Law  Enforcement
21    Training  Standards  Board  or such board waives the training

 1    requirement  by  reason  of  the  investigator's  prior   law
 2    enforcement experience or training or both.
 3        The board shall not waive the training requirement unless
 4    the investigator has had a minimum of 5 years experience as a
 5    sworn  officer  of  a local, state or federal law enforcement
 6    agency, 2 of  which  shall  have  been  in  an  investigatory
 7    capacity.
