1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 457
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 457 on page 1,
3 line 16, by changing "if" to "for Medicare covered skilled
4 nursing services if"; and
5 on page 1 by replacing lines 18 through 27 with the
6 following:
7 (1) it is in the best interests of the patient;
8 (2) the facility, if not a participating provider
9 in the specific health maintenance organization, agrees
10 during the preauthorization period to a negotiated rate
11 for skilled nursing services covered in that
12 organization's health care plan; and
13 (3) the facility meets all the requirements of a
14 participating provider for skilled nursing services as
15 defined and covered under the health maintenance
16 organization's health care plan.
17 Both the facility and the health maintenance organization
18 must fully disclose all pertinent information to consumers to
19 assure that their decisions are based upon full knowledge of
20 the implications of their decision making.".
