Amends the Absentee Ballots Article of the Election Code
by making technical changes to the Section concerning
advertising or campaigning in the proximity of a voting
place.

1 AN ACT to amend the Election Code by changing Section
2 19-2.2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
6 Section 19-2.2 as follows:
7 (10 ILCS 5/19-2.2) (from Ch. 46, par. 19-2.2)
8 Sec. 19-2.2. Advertising or campaigning in the proximity
9 of voting place; penalty. During the period beginning on
10 the 40th day preceding an election and continuing through the
11 day preceding the such election, no advertising pertaining to
12 any candidate or proposition to be voted upon shall be
13 displayed in or within 100 feet of any room used by voters
14 under pursuant to this Article; nor shall any person engage
15 in electioneering in or within 100 feet of any such room.
16 Any person who violates this Section may be punished as for
17 contempt of court.
