Eliminates provision requiring that dispersal of grant funds from the Violent Crime Victims Assistance Fund be made on a semi-annual basis. LRB9002788RCpk LRB9002788RCpk 1 AN ACT to amend the Violent Crime Victims Assistance Act 2 by changing Section 7. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Violent Crime Victims Assistance Act is 6 amended by changing Section 7 as follows: 7 (725 ILCS 240/7) (from Ch. 70, par. 507) 8 Sec. 7. Administration of Fund. The Attorney General 9 shall administer the disbursement of monies collected by the 10 Fund in accordance with the following procedures. 11 (a) Any public or private nonprofit agency may apply to 12 the Attorney General for selection and funding as a victim 13 and witness assistance center pursuant to this Act. 14 (b) The Attorney General shall consider the following 15 factors together with any other circumstances he or she deems 16 appropriate in selecting applicants to receive funds and to 17 be designated as victim and witness assistance centers: 18 (1) Stated goals of applicants; 19 (2) Commitment and ability to provide the services 20 described in Section 8 of this Act; 21 (3) Number of people to be served and the needs of 22 the community; 23 (4) Evidence of community support; 24 (5) Organizational structure of the agency; 25 (6) Maximization of volunteers. 26 (c) After evaluation of all applicants, the Attorney 27 General shall select a number of applicants which the 28 Attorney General deems qualified under this Act for 29 designation to receive funding pursuant to this Act for the 30 establishment and operation of the centers. Funding 31 contracts shall be entered into by the Attorney General with -2- LRB9002788RCpk 1 each designated applicant on an annual basis.Dispersal of2grant funds shall be made on a semi-annual basis.The 3 Attorney General may impose matching funds requirements on 4 grant recipients. The Attorney General may evaluate each 5 recipient prior to eachsemi-annualfund dispersal and cancel 6 the remaining term of any contract in which the recipient has 7 failed to meet the contract requirements or for any good 8 cause. 9 (Source: P.A. 87-743.)
