1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by changing Section 1A-2.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing
5 Section 1A-2 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/1A-2) (from Ch. 122, par. 1A-2)
7 Sec. 1A-2. Qualifications. The members of the State
8 Board of Education shall be citizens of the United States and
9 residents of the State of Illinois and shall be selected as
10 far as may be practicable on the basis of their knowledge of,
11 or interest and experience in, problems of public education.
12 No member of the State Board of Education shall be gainfully
13 employed or administratively connected with any school system
14 or institution of higher learning, public or private, within
15 Illinois, nor shall they be members of a school board or
16 board of school trustees of a public or nonpublic school,
17 college, university or technical institution within Illinois.
18 No member shall be appointed to more than 2 six year terms.
19 Members shall be reimbursed for all ordinary and necessary
20 expenses incurred in performing their duties as members of
21 the Board. Expenses shall be approved by the Board and be
22 consistent with the laws, policies, and requirements of the
23 State of Illinois regarding such expenditures, plus any
24 member may include in his claim for expenses $50 per day for
25 meeting days.
