1 AN ACT to amend the Department of Human Services Act by
2 changing Section 1-5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is
6 amended by changing Section 1-5 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 1305/1-5)
8 Sec. 1-5. Purpose. It is the purpose of this Act to
9 provide for the creation of the Department of Human Services
10 and to transfer to the Department it certain rights, powers,
11 duties, and functions currently exercised by various other
12 agencies of State Government. This Act consolidates and
13 centralizes certain human services programs that are now
14 offered to the citizens of this State by a number of
15 different State agencies; it is intended to make possible the
16 more effective and efficient operation of the affected
17 programs and services.
