 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 927
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 927 as follows:
 3    on page 1, by replacing lines 1 and 2 with the following:
 4        "AN ACT concerning vehicles, amending named Acts."; and
 5    on page 4, below line 31, by inserting the following:
 6        "Section 10.  The Cycle  Rider  Safety  Training  Act  is
 7    amended by changing Section 4 as follows:
 8        (625 ILCS 35/4) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 804)
 9        Sec. 4.  Any State or community college, State university
10    or community agency designated by the Department may organize
11    a  Regional  Cycle Rider Safety Training Center and may offer
12    cycle rider safety training  courses  through  such  Training
13    Centers  which it operates.  The curriculum and accreditation
14    for the courses, and  the  geographic  areas  in  which  each
15    Training  Center may offer the courses, shall be provided for
16    by rules and regulations of the  Department.  Instructors  of
17    such  courses  shall meet the qualification and certification
18    requirements of the regulations of  the  Department  and  the
19    college,  university or community agency offering the program
20    and may be employed on a calendar year rather than  a  school
21    year  basis.   Such courses shall be open to all residents of

 1    the State who hold a currently valid driver's license and who
 2    have reached their 16th birthday without  regard  to  whether
 3    such  person  is enrolled in any other course offered by said
 4    State or community college,  State  university  or  community
 5    agency.   Such courses may be offered throughout the calendar
 6    year. The courses may  be  offered  as  credit  or  noncredit
 7    courses,  but  no  fee  shall be charged except for a nominal
 8    registration fee which shall be refunded upon  completion  of
 9    the course. However, the Department shall charge each student
10    a  fee of $20 and shall deposit this fee into the Cycle Rider
11    Safety Training Fund.
