          Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to exempt certain
      corporations providing specified  health  services  from  the
      licensure  requirements of the Act if the physicians hired by
      the corporations  and  performing  the  health  services  are
      licensed  under the Act and are members of the Illinois State
      Medical Society.

 1        AN ACT to amend the  Medical  Practice  Act  of  1987  by
 2    changing Section 4.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by
 6    changing Section 4 as follows:
 7        (225 ILCS 60/4) (from Ch. 111, par. 4400-4)
 8        Sec. 4.  Exemptions.
 9        (a)  This Act does not apply to:
10             (1)  persons lawfully carrying on  their  particular
11        profession   or   business   under   any  valid  existing
12        regulatory Act of this State;
13             (2)  persons rendering gratuitous services in  cases
14        of emergency;
15             (3)  persons  treating  human  ailments by prayer or
16        spiritual means as an exercise or enjoyment of  religious
17        freedom.
18        (b)  Section 22 of this Act does not apply to persons who
19    carry  out  or  assist in the implementation of a court order
20    effecting the provisions of Section  119-5  of  the  Code  of
21    Criminal Procedure of 1963.
22        (c)  Nothing  in this Act shall be construed to prevent a
23    qualifying corporation  from  providing,  without  a  license
24    issued  in  the  name  of the qualifying corporation, routine
25    occupational  health  examinations,  alcohol  and  controlled
26    substances   testing,    immunizations    and    prophylactic
27    medications  as a precursor to travel, and treatment of minor
28    and non-work related illnesses and injuries  during  business
29    hours,  as  further defined by rule of the Department, if the
30    physician employed by or  on  contract  with  the  qualifying
31    corporation   to   perform   the  examinations,  testing,  or

 1    treatment is licensed under this Act and is a member  of  the
 2    Illinois   State   Medical  Society.  For  purposes  of  this
 3    subsection, "qualifying corporation" means a corporation with
 4    annual sales revenues of more than $1 billion, including  its
 5    affiliates, employees, and on-site contractors.
