      25 ILCS 170/7             from Ch. 63, par. 177
          Amends the  Lobbyist  Registration  Act  to  require  the
      Secretary of State to notify each official on whose behalf an
      expenditure  has  been  reported  within  30  days after such
      expenditure report has been  submitted.   Notification  shall
      include  the  name  of  the lobbyist, the total amount of the
      expenditure, the date on which the expenditure occurred,  and
      the subject matter of the lobbying activity.

 1        AN ACT to amend the Lobbyist Registration Act by changing
 2    Section 7.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5.  The Lobbyist Registration Act is  amended  by
 6    changing Section 7 as follows:
 7        (25 ILCS 170/7) (from Ch. 63, par. 177)
 8        Sec. 7. Duties of the Secretary of State.
 9        It shall be the duty of the Secretary of State to provide
10    appropriate  forms  for  the  registration  and  reporting of
11    information  required  by  this  Act   and   to   keep   such
12    registrations  and  reports on file in his office for 3 years
13    from the date of filing. He shall also provide and maintain a
14    register with appropriate blanks  and  indexes  so  that  the
15    information  required  in Sections 5 and 6 of this Act may be
16    accordingly entered. Such records shall be considered  public
17    information and open to public inspection.
18        A report filed under this Act is due in the Office of the
19    Secretary of State no later than the close of business on the
20    date on which it is required to be filed.
21        Within  10 days after a filing deadline, the Secretary of
22    State shall notify persons he determines are required to file
23    but have failed to do so.
24        Within 30 days after a filing deadline, the Secretary  of
25    State   shall   notify  each  official  on  whose  behalf  an
26    expenditure has been reported.   Notification  shall  include
27    the   name  of  the  registrant,  the  total  amount  of  the
28    expenditure, the date on which the expenditure occurred,  and
29    the subject matter of the lobbying activity.
