1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1349
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 1349 by replacing
3 the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT in relation to taxes."; and
5 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
6 following:
7 "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
8 Direct Pay Permit Implementation Act.
9 Section 5. Direct pay permit pilot program. The
10 Department of Revenue shall implement a pilot direct pay
11 permit program as a means of collecting State and local
12 occupation and use taxes. The Department may work with
13 Illinois business taxpayers and their representatives to
14 implement a direct pay permit pilot program and to set
15 standards for participation in that pilot program. The
16 Department shall select the participants for the pilot
17 program, but participation shall be voluntary. The
18 Department shall report the results of the pilot program to
19 the General Assembly on or before January 1, 2001, with a
20 recommendation as to whether a direct pay permit program
21 should be implemented in Illinois. If the Department

1 recommends that a direct pay program be implemented, the
2 Department shall also recommend legislation to implement that
3 program.".
