Amends the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act.
Provides that in a municipality with fewer than 5,000
inhabitants, a municipal board member may also hold certain
education offices. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Public Officer Prohibited Activities
2 Act by adding Section 1.3.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act
6 is amended by adding Section 1.3 as follows:
7 (50 ILCS 105/1.3 new)
8 Sec. 1.3. Municipal board member; education office. In a
9 city, village, or incorporated town with fewer than 5,000
10 inhabitants, an alderman of the city or a member of the board
11 of trustees of a village or incorporated town, during the
12 term of office for which he or she is elected, may also hold
13 the office of member of the board of education, regional
14 board of school trustees, board of school directors, or board
15 of school inspectors.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.
