Provides that the Department of Public Aid or the Department of Human Services, as appropriate, may cooperate with any Illinois private industry council, political subdivision of the State, or private entity awarded a competitive grant under provisions of the federal Balanced Budget Act of 1997 for Welfare to Work activities aimed at moving individuals into and keeping individuals in lasting unsubsidized employment. LRB9011666SMsb LRB9011666SMsb 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by adding 2 Section 12-4.35. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by 6 adding Section 12-4.35 as follows: 7 (305 ILCS 5/12-4.35 new) 8 Sec. 12-4.35. Cooperation of Department with recipients 9 of Welfare to Work competitive grants. The Department may 10 cooperate with any Illinois private industry council, 11 political subdivision of the State, or private entity awarded 12 a competitive grant under Section 5001 of the federal 13 Balanced Budget Act of 1997 for Welfare to Work activities 14 aimed at moving individuals into and keeping individuals in 15 lasting unsubsidized employment. The Department may, by 16 rule, establish procedures for identifying persons eligible 17 to participate in programs operated under Welfare to Work 18 grants and may, by rule, establish requirements and policies 19 regarding eligibility, child support enforcement, child 20 support distribution, and other program matters applicable in 21 geographic areas designated in Welfare to Work grants or to 22 individuals or assistance units participating in pilot or 23 demonstration projects under these Welfare to Work grants 24 which are different from the Department's policies and 25 requirements for other areas of the State, individuals, or 26 assistance units. 27 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 28 becoming law.
