90_SJ0008 LRB9003108CBcb 1 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 3 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 4 CONCURRING HEREIN, that an Election Reform Task Force is 5 hereby created to study campaign financing in Illinois, 6 recommend changes in Article 9 of the Election Code, and 7 recommend a system of updating and computerizing the 8 reporting and encoding of campaign finance data filed with 9 the State Board of Elections; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall consist of the 11 Executive Director of the State Board of Elections, or his or 12 her designee, and 10 members appointed as follows: 2 senators 13 to be appointed by the President of the Senate and 1 senator 14 to be appointed by the Minority Leader of the Senate; 2 15 representatives to be appointed by the Speaker of the House 16 of Representatives and 1 representative to be appointed by 17 the Minority Leader of the House; and 4 members of the public 18 appointed one each by the President and Minority Leader of 19 the Senate and the Speaker and Minority Leader of the House; 20 and be it further 21 RESOLVED, That the Executive Director of the State Board 22 of Elections, or his or her designee, shall serve as 23 chairperson of the Task Force; and be it further 24 RESOLVED, That the members of the Task Force shall serve 25 without compensation but shall be reimbursed for expenses 26 incurred in the performance of their duties; and be it 27 further 28 RESOLVED, That, in studying and developing 29 recommendations under this Act, the Task Force shall take 30 actions including, but not limited to: holding public 31 hearings, seeking public input, consulting with appropriate 32 public interest groups and experts, examining proposals from -2- LRB9003108CBcb 1 other states, and considering federal requirements; and be it 2 further 3 RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall report its findings 4 and recommendations to the General Assembly and the Governor 5 by October 1, 1997; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 delivered to the Director of the State Board of Elections.
