90_SR0025 LRB9003187KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, This body joins in mourning the loss of Mrs. 3 Dorothy Lucille Kenney of East Saint Louis, Illinois; and 4 WHEREAS, Dorothy Kenney was born in East Saint Louis on 5 November 3, 1922; the daughter of Henry and Beulah (Hutch) 6 Anderson, Sr., she attended Dunbar Elementary and Lincoln 7 Senior, Howard University, and Freedman's School of Nursing; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, Dorothy Kenney professed an early faith in Jesus 10 Christ, and became united with the Pilgrim Temple Christian 11 Methodist Episcopal Church; after her marriage to Dr. Roy 12 Wesley Kenney, Jr. on June 14, 1947, she united with the 13 Wesley-Bethel United Methodist Church; in 1967, she returned 14 her membership to Pilgrim Temple; and 15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kenney was a member of Chi Eta Phi; a 16 member of the East Saint Louis Civic Guild; Secretary and 17 Recording Secretary for the Missionary Society; a member of 18 the Steward Board; and Founder of the East Saint Louis 19 Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc; and 20 WHEREAS, Dorothy Kenney was associated with the Urban 21 League, Y.W.C.A., and the N.A.A.C.P. and was a Community 22 Hospital Volunteer; and 23 WHEREAS, Mrs. Kenney is survived by her husband, Dr. Roy 24 W. Kenney; two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl McKinney and Ms. 25 Deborah Kenney; one son, Roy Wesley Kenney, III; 26 granddaughter Perchell McKinney; sisters Madames Rena Lewis 27 and Retha Fant; sisters-in-law Mrs. Katherine Brown, Mrs. 28 Dorothy Austin, Madames Jane and Ora Kenney, Ms. Reba Kenney, 29 and Mrs. Alberta Anderson; brothers-in-law Messers Howard 30 Kenney and Roland Austin, Sr.; several nephews and nieces; as 31 well as a large church family and many friends; therefore, be -2- LRB9003187KBkb 1 it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 3 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our most sincere 4 condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Dorothy Lucille 5 Kenney in this time of personal loss; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Mrs. Dorothy Lucille Kenney.
