90_SR0091 LRB9005848CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The major tenet of the Riverboat Gambling Act is 3 that the establishment of riverboat gambling will enhance 4 investments, development, and tourism in Illinois only if 5 public confidence and trust in the credibility and integrity 6 of the gambling and regulatory process is maintained; and 7 WHEREAS, The Illinois Gaming Board, the regulatory agency 8 for the Riverboat Gambling Act, has come under intense public 9 scrutiny due to alleged discrepancies in the licensing 10 activities of the Board; and 11 WHEREAS, There have been further serious concerns 12 expressed regarding the issuance of contracts for services by 13 riverboat gambling licensees which may have comprised the 14 integrity of the credibility of the riverboat gambling 15 industry and State government; and 16 WHEREAS, Allegations of collusion and conflicts of 17 interest affecting the membership of the Illinois Gaming 18 Board and the staff of the Board bring additional concerns 19 about the integrity of the regulation of gambling in the 20 State; therefore, be it 21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY 22 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we call on the Attorney 23 General of the State of Illinois to conduct an investigation 24 to determine if these allegations warrant legal action; and 25 be it further 26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 27 delivered to the Attorney General of the State of Illinois.
